MINIATURE SCULPTURE

I have been sculpting since childhood, where no bar of soap was safe from the carving knife. Eventually, the blade was traded for fingers to mold various mediums into the images in my brain. … In the 1980s, I was awarded as “Sculptor to the Stars” by the Southern California Motion Picture Council for my celebrity caricatures (around 8″). … Over the years, the scale of my sculptures slowly increased… The pandemic shutdown brought a happy return to even smaller scale (2″-5″), which has been like a breath of fresh air. Some pieces possess an opportunity to become more accessible and affordable to wider arenas.

THEME BASED CHESS SETS 2023

Knowing the shutdown would require finding things to pass the time, my focus went right to the board game that makes the hours fly by (and keep the brain stimulated)… Inspired by the stoic nature of most classic chess pieces, I went for basic features, hollow eyes, rigid posture, and less detail. The theme for the one depicted here was obvious, as the number of characters from the 90s television series (“Conan, the Adventurer”) equaled the number of playing pieces… The originals were sculpted in FIMO, and molds taken, then cast in resin. – Limited runs in 2021 – All editions sold out.
